Scott A. Smothers 


Education:  Graduated cum laude from Stetson University with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science. Smothers gained valuable perspective and knowledge while studying abroad in Italy, Greece, Turkey, England and Kyrgyzstan. He graduated from Stetson University College of Law in 2006 with a Juris Doctorate. He received the highest class honor in Alternative Dispute Resolution. He also has additional education in foreclosure defense techniques

Experience:  After law school Smothers joined the law firm of Wright, Fulford, Moorhead & Brown, P.A., in Orlando. During his time there, he focused on construction litigation, representing a wide range of clients related to the construction industry, including engineers, architects, general contractors, sub-contractors, material suppliers, owners, and sureties. Much of his construction litigation experience relates to the preparing and foreclosing of construction liens, along with the collection of judgments. He also represented individual home owners in their disputes with contractors. Smothers was special contract counsel to the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) and prosecuted construction industry license holders regarding complaints against their license. He is now using that experience to represent those same contractors who have had formal complaints filed against their license.

Admissions:  Admitted to practice law before all Florida state courts.

Memberships: The Florida Bar and the Orange County Bar Association.
